The Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu, has officially declared that the Islamic Movement of Nigeria led by Ibraheem Zakzaky has officially been proscribed and all protests by the movement banned.
According to him, anyone associated with the IMN or furthering their agenda will be treated as a terrorist and an enemy of the state.
The federal government of Nigeria had, on Friday, proscribed IMN as a “terrorist group” for protesting the release of its leader, El-Zakzaky, who has been detained since 2015 despite court order for his release.
Members of the religious group popularly known as Shiites has been killed by security agents since they began protest for release of El-Zakzaky who is still in detention with his wife, battling with poison caused bullets pallets in their bodies.
Anyone who associate with Shiites will be treated as a terrorist — IGP Adamu
