CONFUSION: I must go for Presidency in 2023 to represent South-West - Tinubu Blows Hot

Former Governor of Lagos state and the National Leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has insisted that the South West of Nigeria will support President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 so that power could return to the South West by 2023.

Recall that OLIKA REPORTERS had quoted   the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki stating that the former NADECO chieftain is against him because he opposed him (Tinubu) when he wanted to be running mate to Mr. Buhari in 2015.

Mr. Tinubu who is believed to be nursing the ambition of ruling Nigeria as President was said to have revealed his secret agreement with the President to a close aide and also voiced it on an online TV, that he was ready to serve Nigeria as President.

Tinubu, a revered figure in South West politics, has never hidden his interest  in the highest office in the land, was only pressured out of being the Vice Presidential candidate of Buhari in the 2015 prealdential election due to the controversy that thrailled the Muslim-muslim ticket.

Mr. Bola Tinubu was seen in an online TV expressing his desire to be President of Nigeria.

He said: “I’m still young and fit to take up any position in Nigeria, I can go to the Senate, the President and why not? I won’t reject such an opportunity to serve my country as the President”.

In a chat with OLIKA REPORTERS in Lagos, a close friend of Mr. Tinubu who was also an active member of NADECO in the late 1990s told our correspondent that “Asiwaju is eyeing the Presidency

In his words; “Asiwaju has always wanted to be President since he left office as governor of Lagos state in 2007, he has only been waiting for the appropriate time and if he helps Buhari to get a second term in 2019, Buhari would naturally support him by 2023”.

When our correspondent reminded him how Mr. Tinubu was sidelined by the Buhari government since 2015 as alleged by his wife Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the legal practitioner who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity replied thus;

“That is a life for you, but at the moment he has realised that they need Asiwaju more than anything else and he was called and the whole cards were placed on the table, Asiwaju gave his conditions and they were okay for the President and his team and an agreement was reached”.He said.
