The only proper response to Palestinian terror is to build up Judea and Samaria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday at the inauguration of the Adam Interchange.
The new junction, located in the Binyamin region and built at a cost of over NIS 60 million ($16 million), will cut the congestion between Jerusalem and the Israeli communities in Judea.
Netanyahu noted “the depth of our enemies’ hatred of us, Jews and Israelis,” referring to the terrorist incident Monday in Samaria that injured seven people, including a pregnant woman who was seriously wounded and underwent an emergency C-section. The infant boy remains in critical condition.
“We will prove to them that their desire to uproot us from our land will come up against a fortified wall…. As long as I am the prime minister of Israel, not a single Jew will be uprooted from his home,” the prime minister asserted.
He also promised that additional homes will be built and other transportation projects approved. This would tighten the connection between the capital and the places in the region where, he noted, “the core of the history of our people took place 3,000 years ago.”
Transportation Minister Yaakov Katz, who joined Netanyahu in cutting the ribbon to the new underground tunnel at the junction, told the crowd of around 200 that by 2030, Judea and Samaria will double its population to approximately 900,000. His ministry is doing its part, he said, by investing millions of shekels in the development of roads and improving transportation infrastructure throughout the region.
