Breaking News: Catholic priest kidnapped by herdsmen Escapes Death in Ogoja




A clergyman of the Catholic Doicese of Ogoja, Rev. Fr. Kizito Awok, the previous day, Saturday, June 15, 2019, escaped demise with the aid of the whiskers while men and women suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, kidnapped and led the priest and numerous others commuting between the Enugu and Agwu freeway, into the bush.

Visibly shaken via the abduction and fabulous break out, Awok took to his fb wall this morning, proclaiming the greatness of God and portray a graphic image of what passed off. He wrote: “…Our God is great! it was a miraculous escape from the hands of Fulani herdsmen yesterday. We were held hostage for about three hours in the forest, between Enugu and Agwu express way. Some of us escaped, while others were marched to the forest. How it happened was God’s intervention. Even with my fluent Hausa and Fulfude, they rejected my identity. Thank God for the soldiers who kept shooting into the air, that distraction gave some of us leverage for escape. The consistent shooting caused panic in their midst. Dear friends pray for those still in their captivity,and those that died from their gunshots. God your are wonderful!!!”
