The newly elected National Vice President, Ohanaeze Youth Council, (OYC) M/s Oluchi Claire Chinweuba has declared on Thursday, that they will rebuild AlaIgbo and make things better, Ogene Ndigbo Newspaper learnt. Oluchi Chinweuba, who is in her early twenties’ hails from Imama Nomeh Unateze in Nkanu East Local government, Enugu State maintained while interacting withOgeneNews in Enugu State that Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) will partner with all the Igbo leaders, business men and women to map the way forward for economic advancement of Ndi Igbo.

The Vice President, M/s Oluchi, who is also a business administrator, event planner, and an activist expressed joy over what she described as “noble responsibility” as she won the OYC election as the National Vice President to serve her people. She was officially sworn in as the Vice President of Ohanaeze Youth Council last Saturday in Enugu.

 

In her remarks, she sincerely showed her appreciation to all the people who supported her and thanked them for their words of advice given to her. She gave special thanks to the Board of Trustees, delegates, and stakeholders who came through for the election.

 

According to her, she said, “I dedicate this office to all indigenous Igbo men and women, I dedicate it to every hardworking Igbo youth who toils like an elephant, but feeds like an ant, because of the situation of the country’s economy”. She further stated that she dedicates it to every fallen Hero who fell trying to make Ala Igbo better and everyone who has been oppressed, but can’t really speak up.

 

In her statement, she said, “above all I dedicate it to my greatest motivators which are some leaders that have refused to do the right thing”.

 

She finally dedicated it to those who belittled her that she is too young to go for such office. Oluchi said, “I dedicate it to those who said to me “you can’t, you are too young, I want to show you that the youths are the foundation and core existence of the society”. She maintained that their regime is promising to be unbiased, fair, just and true.

 

When asked about the OYC’s vision for Ndi Igbo, she reinstated that she is not just working alone with the leadership of the President and on behalf of every member of the Executives, she promised Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) won’t just be a media name, but will remain active as an organisation to rebuild Igboland. We will work to ensure we mobilize and unify all the Igbo sons and daughters from different States, including Igbo speaking communities in Kogi, Edo Bayelsa, Cross River, Benue, Akwa Ibom, she maintained.

 

She said, OYC as a body intends to make Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), an apex socio-cultural and political organisation driven mainly by reliable youth of noble character and integrity and they will integrate them into Ohanaeze’s activities in other to protect their interest, rebuild AlaIgbo and make things better.

 

In their vision for AlaIgbo, she said, they will ensure there will be Igbo States inter-economical relationship among the Governors, Senators, House of Representatives and House of Assembly to set up Igbo States Economic Development Commission to be created mainly by the seven governors of core Igbo States, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta and Rivers State to harness the human and natural potentials in Igbo land. In other words, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) will partner with all the Igbo leaders, business men and women to map the way forward for economic advancement of Ndi Igbo, stating, by the end of this tenure there is hope to achieve the following in igbo land, Railway, International Airport, International Seaport, National electricity grid, and Recommissioning of the banned department of chemical engineering at University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

 

On their plans to get youths in diaspora involved, Oluchi said, “well, not just me but with the help of other OYC members, we intend to reach out to sons and daughters of Igboland worldwide to come on board this ship by setting up Ohanaeze Youth Council Chapters in different continents and countries.

 

On mobilizing the grassroots, she said, they intend to reach out to every nook and cranny of Igbo States and no State will be left out. They aim to setup Chapters from urban areas to the very remote areas as they intend to partner with the traditional rulers of different communities in other to set up chapters even in the most remote villages.

 

University chapters and local government chapters will be established too. They will strive to better AlaIgbo by working with youths and maintained that they will be involved in scouting and engaging in massive mobilisation of noble and reliable Igbo youths from the age of 15 years to 45 years old, she said.
