I will no longer keep silent, some people just playing politics with Security of Nigeria – Buratai

The chief of Army staff, disagrees with some Nigerians on insecurity, says the military has recorded “great success” in the fight against insecurity.

Buratai made this remark on Monday, when he visited the troops stationed at 1 division super camp in Kuyello, Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.

Buratai said the military had reduced insecurity in the country.

The chief of army staff warned politicians to stop playing politics with the security, adding that the army would not hesitate to take action against them.

He revealed thst the new employed strategy has helped them on major attacks in the last three weeks.

Part of the statement reads: “Apart from some isolated remote areas as a result of some other factors, the attacks have drastically reduced,” Buratai said.

“That means we are winning and it is a great success which people should be assured. All these cries of insecurity which some groups and individuals are taking it as a political game I think they should have a rethink because it is no longer the case.

“Insecurity has been tamed right now in the northeast and in the northwest and even in other areas we are doing so well. Our troops are deployed in support of the government, civil police and indeed the civil authorities.”

Meanwhile, Lauretta Onochie, Special Assistant on social media to President Muhammadu Buhari, has called for the arrest of Afenifere secretary.

She said this while reacting to the death of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, the daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Afenifere leader.

Onochie called for the arrest of Mr. Yinka Odumakin, spokesman of Afenifere for allegedly suggesting that the brutal murder of Mrs. Olakunrin in Ondo state, while on transit to Lagos was perpetrated by suspected herdsmen.

Odumakin had earlier claimed the 58-year-old Funke was shot dead by suspected Fulani herdsmen along Benin/Ore expressway, on Friday.

His word: “We have confirmed the death of Mrs Funke Olakunrin (58), daughter of our Leader, Chief Fasoranti.

”Eyewitness accounts say she died of gunshot from Fulani herdsmen who shot her at Ore junction in Ondo state.

“She was coming from Akure when the armed Fulani herdsmen came from the bush to attack her and other vehicles. Her domestic staff in the car with her sustained gunshots too.

“This is one death too many and a clear we-can- take-it-no-more death.”

Onochie, reacring on her Twitter handle, said: “Those who witnessed the murder of the daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Funke Olakunrin, suggest it was either by a criminal armed gang or assassins.

“The Nigeria Police should question Yinka Odumakin to determine his motives for misleading and pointing investigators to Fulani herdsmen.”
