Information reaching ECO CITY REPORTERS news room has it that a Politics Editor of Daily Trust, Mr Dan Halilu who was arrested by SSS has been released.
ECO CITY REPORTERS Gathered that the men of Nigeria security operatives invaded the home of Mr Dan-Halilu’s Rigachikun in four SUVs and took him away. The cause of the arrested was over support by the Journalist to RevolutionNow protest held Lagos and other part of Nigeria on 5th August, 2019.
Mr Dan-Halilu was arrested for allegedly championing the cause of #RevolutionNow, a group agitating for revolution in Nigeria.
In a telephone chat with DAILY NIGERIAN after his release on Tuesday evening, Mr Dan-Halilu confirmed he was arrested and questioned in respect of his Facebook post on #RevolutionNow.
There have been crackdown on the activities of the #RevolutionNow by the secret service since the arrest of its convener, Omoyele Sowore, on August 3.
On Tuesday, the SSS applied to the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking permission to further detain the Mr Sowore for 90 days, pending the conclusion of investigation.
The request formed the main relief in an ex-parte application filed by the secret service, FHC/ABJ/CS/ 915/19, which was argued on by its lawyer, G. O. Agbadua.
After listening to Mr Agbadua’s argument, Justice Taiwo Taiwo adjourned the matter to Thursday for ruling.
