Residents in some parts of Anambra, Ebonyi and Abia, has raised alarm over what influx of soldiers trooping in their town since Monday 21, December.

The Nigerian military has allegedly began secret hunt for camps belonging to Eastern Security Network ESN, a vigilante group created in South-East and South-south by IPOB's leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, without the supervision and approval of both Region governor's and Igbo elders (Ohanaeze Ndigbo).

According to a source from army headquarters Kaduna who spoke under the condition of anonymity, revealed that the military head of chief General Tukur Buratai, held a brief meeting on Sunday, over the up rising threat of ESN imposing threat on the country. 

“Here in our camp, troops left on Monday night to join those on ground to search for camps belonging to ESN.

“I don’t think the order is to arrest, rather it is a command to shoot at sight because the general described them as dangerous armed terrorists,” the source said.

Meanwhile, residents in some parts of Anambra, Ebonyi and Abia, has raised alarm over what influx of soldiers trooping in their town since Monday 21, December.


According to a source in Ebonyi State, " the [soldiers] arrived our community around 3am at night on Monday. Our people are very scared, some has left their homes in fear of the rising tension,” he said.
