Report has revealed that a young man was sentenced by death after he killed his girlfriend.
A 29-year-old man, Mustapha Idris, was on Tuesday, December 19, sentenced to death by hanging by the Jigawa State High Court sitting in Ringim, for killing his pregnant girlfriend, Nafisa Hashimu.
It was gathered that Mustapha, on January 12, 2020, at the outskirts of Daneji village, allegedly used a knife to cut the throat of the 20-year-old girl
The suspect had earlier confessed to the crime, stating that he did it to avoid the shame of giving birth outside wedlock.
According to him, “I’m ashamed of how the society will see us after she delivers the unborn child out of wedlock, and thus I decided to terminate her life to stay away from shame.”
