The Chief of the Army Staff, Maj Gen Farouk Yahaya, On Wednesday, he traveled to Owerri, Imo State, saying he had come for an on-site assessment of the state's security situation. Yahaya, who met the troops of the 34th Brigade at Obinze Barracks in Owerri, urged them to be stubborn and resolute against the Indigenous Biafra (IPOB), who he believed were disrupting the peace of the state. 

According to a statement from the army's director of public relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the army chief praised the "resilience of soldiers of the 34th brigade and agents of other security agencies." to reverse the recent wave of insecurity caused by the criminal activities of the IPOB-banned group in Imo State." 

He said; "General Yahaya today praised Barracks Obinze in Owerri, Imo State, as he addressed soldiers on his first operational visit to the 34th Brigade headquarters," he said. 

"He told the military that his visit was motivated by the need for an on-site assessment of the security situation in the state. The SFOC welcomes the military's recorded successes to date and urges them to redouble their efforts to consolidate their success.

"General Yahaya also asked them to be loyal and always show a high sense of duty. He stressed that more success will be achieved through adherence to guidelines and loyalty to higher authorities. 

"SFOC also urges officers to lead by example and ensure that military personnel are kept brief and fully informed and stick to their assigned mission. 

"To show the synergy, SFOC also visited soldiers from Response Group 211, Nigerian Air Force, Owerri, where he begged the soldiers to stay professional and sober. He highly appreciated their spirit of cooperation and synergy to resolve insecurity. situation. 

"The highlight of the business trip was a visit by SFOC to the Owerri military hospital project and a visit to the Obinze barracks."
