This came barely 24 hours after Northern Elders pleaded with the Nigerian government to allow Igbo is to have Independence if they no longer want to remain in Nigeria.
According to Director of Publicity and Advocacy of the NEF, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, at a press conference in Abuja after a closed-door meeting of the forum, He said: “The forum has arrived at the difficult conclusion that if support for secession among the Igbo is as widespread as it is being made to look, and Igbo leadership appears to be in support of it, then the country should be advised not to stand in their way.
“It will not be the best choice for the Igbo or Nigerians to leave a country we have all toiled to build and a country we all have responsibility to fix, but it will not help a country already burdened with failures on its knees to fight another war to keep the Igbo in Nigeria.”
Kanu, reacting on a recent tweet message, said; "If I’m compelled to accept the 5 Igbo states (SE) as Biafra, what will be the fate of indigenous Igbo people gerrymandered into other states like Edo, Kogi, Benue, Cross River, Rivers, Benue, Bayelsa and Delta states? Does it mean they are no longer Igbo?
Small Dot, Big People"
In some opinions gathered by Eco City Reporters, many have pleaded for Biafra to go with the Five Igbo states while, others insisted that referendum must hold in the whole of former Eastern region to determine the fate of others.
