Nnamdi Kanu arrest: US scholar mocks Nigerian President as matter Arises

President Muhammadu Buhari has been chastised by Steve H Hanke, an American applied economist from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, over the recent arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

President Muhammadu Buhari, according to Hanke, is leading an authoritarian regime that does not allow for criticism.

According to him, under the current administration, Nigeria is ranked 131st out of 162 countries on the Cato Institute's Human Freedom Index.

“Sleepy Buhari’s govt has arrested Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the indigenous People of Biafra movement,” he tweeted

‘#Nigeria ranks 131st out of 162 on @CatoInstitute’s Human Freedom Index. Under Buhari’s reign, no critics, no problem,” he added.

Recall that Hanke had recently mocked the Buhari government following Nigeria’s continued upsurge in the corruption Index.
